The African Student Association at the University of Washington put together an Afro-Caribbean Night to celebrate African Culture. I had an amazing time being part of this event!!! Taken at the University of Washington, Seattle. Had a lovely time meeting these three graduating beauties! Taken at the University of Washington, Seattle. The University of Washington hosted a photo competition and I decided to submit a rather recent photo I photographed of model Haley Bart for a local jeweler, Elysian Pearl. Below is the caption I wrote for the submission:
To me, this image represents a facet of the diversity that lives among us. I met a local jeweler, Elysian Pearl, online and had the opportunity to photograph her products. When I found out more about her, she revealed she's majoring in Computer Science at the UW and she relies on her business as an outlet for her creativity. I then discovered that the model she hired for the shoot, Haley Bart, mostly does modeling work relating to her passion for cosplay. I had never even heard of this type of performance art until I met Haley. Although small, this interaction made me realize that we all typically take each other for granted by grazing a surface level of communication. We should strive to get to that deeper level, even if it's as simple as finding out about a new hobby genre, because everyone has something different to offer. Taken at the Japanese Garden in Seattle, WA. |
